Congrats to our U18AA and U22A teams on Qualifying for the OWHA Championship Day on April 1st!
After three grueling rounds of playoffs, your Durham West U18AA team is headed back to the OWHL Southern Championship. The first round saw the Lightning playing a feisty Clarington team who pushed the series to three games. After two ties, your U18AAs persisted and found the back of the net in game three, moving onto the next round against their local nemesis to the east. The second round against Whitby proved to be two very physical games, Durham persevered, coming out on top and moved on to round three against the Toronto Aeros. In another successful two game sweep, the Bolts punched their ticket to the championship weekend. As the 2022 defending southern league champions, they are looking to repeat. If you have time, come on out and cheer on the team!
The U22A team faced the Kitchener Rangers in their series. Game one was a decisive 8-3 win for Durham West, but game two was a different story with Kitchener prevailing 4-2 to force game three. In game 3 Durham West came out strong and dominated to a 5-1 victory gaining them a berth in this weekend's Championship game against their season long foes from St. Catharines.
