Volunteer Requirements (Durham West Girls Hockey)

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Durham West Girls Hockey Association!


Volunteering in the House League Program is a fun and rewarding experience and is bound to leave you with life-long memories with your team.

The majority of our team staff which includes coaches, assistant coaches and trainers are volunteer parents and are required by our governing bodies Hockey Canada and the Ontario Women's Hockey Association to take courses and obtain certifications to coach various levels of hockey.

Respect in Sport Activity Leader/Coach is a one time requirement for anyone who wants to be on a roster or in a dressing room. The cost of this course is the responsibility of the volunteer.


A police check is also required for every volunteer.  Once a current check is provided it is good for the following 3 seasons with a self declaration, provided you remain with DWGHA the entire time.  With a volunteer letter from the Association, the fee in the Durham Region is $20 and is the responsibility of the volunteer.
